What Working Dads Really Want

For more than 30 years, Working Mother Media has focused on understanding what working mothers want and need from their employers. Much has changed, including the growing understanding that work-life programs are equally important to dads, and that moms benefit when dads are equal partners. But for dads, gaining the benefits moms have won isn’t always a given. A 2017 Pew Research study found that U.S. fathers are spending more time caring for their children than they did a half-century ago, but most (63 percent) say they spend too little time with their kids. According to a June 2018 article in the Harvard Business Review, 73 percent of U.S. working dads say there isn’t enough support for fathers in the workplace.

To recognize the growing importance of fathers, we began our Best Companies for Working Dads list in 2018.
