When it comes to viral videos, babies just make them all the more shareable. We’ve seen professors and doctors holding babies during poignant moments, but now comes a moment from a Tennessee judge who held a young law associate’s toddler as he swore her in as a lawyer.
When State Court of Appeals Judge Richard Dinkins reads the oath of admission to Juliana Lamar, he’s simultaneously bouncing 1-year-old Beckham on his hip. We can’t take our eyes off the cuteness in the video.
Little Beckham can be seen curiously looking around as his mom gets sworn in as a licensed attorney. A colleague of Juliana’s originally posted the video, which has garnered nearly 700,000 views on Twitter.
Juliana told Fox 17 Nashville that Judge Dinkins saw her little one sitting in the crowd and wanted him to be involved in the ceremony, so he picked him up and held him until she had completed her oath.
Being a new mom while working as a law clerk and attending law school is no easy task. Juliana’s son was born in October of 2018 while she was still a student at Belmont University College of Law. Just over a week after her son was born, the first-time mom was back in class.
“It was nerve-racking, I didn’t know anything about babies,” Juliana told Fox 17 Nashville. “I was worried about law school and being a new mom.”
Juliana said her amazing support system—her husband, Javon, who normally took baby Beckham to work while she went to school, as well as her mom and Judge Dinkins—are what helped get her through the process. The new lawyer’s story warmed our hearts as well as those of thousands of people on the internet. Keep up the great work, mama.
