Alex Yarde reviews this awesome Target exclusive box that includes a hat, pin, comic and 6″ figure all themed for the upcoming STAR WARS:THE RISE OF SKYWALKER film!
I was sent the Target exclusive $40 Black Series Box yesterday.
SPOILERS: Here was the unboxing video I shot below –
From the manufacturer:
– “Imagine galactic adventures with this collectible Star Wars figure of the cold weather assault trooper inspired by Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”
The Mystery box itself looks very cool. Outside it bears a logo on the back and the familiar STAR WARS print on the front. Inside, it has a graphic of a First Order Snowtrooper design looking at you, and its blurb is at the bottom of the box.-
“The latest generation of cold weather assault Stormtroopers, Snowtroopers wear advanced insulated armor and helmets that reduce the glare of icy terrain.”
It’s great storage for packaged figures which aren’t currently on display.
What I found inside this box was…
Grey beanie with a flash new “FIRST ORDER” logo
This is a nice, all size poly-blend charcoal Bennie with an an Elite First Order embroidered red sigil on the front. It’s soft and keeps it’s shape well. This isn’t available anywhere but this particular mystery box so bonus!
“JOURNEY TO STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER Marvel Comic movie tie-in – STAR WARS ALLEGIANCE #1 VARIANT COVER
Cover by Marco Checchetto. This issue is spoiler heavy so I won’t divulge the story, safe to assume it picks up right after The Battle Of Crait, the Resistance is on the ropes and on the run, and things aren’t looking very good for our little group of rebels!
It’s drawn by Luke Ross, inked by Lee Loughridge and written by Ethan Sacks, lettered by VC’s Clayton Cowels, a solid story that drew me in and keeping in tone thematically with the new trilogy and excited to collect the next issues.
“FIRST ORDER” FORCE FRIDAY 10/4/19 enamel pin
This was also a Force Friday release, and I imagine they have a surplus of these they threw in as a bonus. It’s a nice pin that bears the date of issue that I promptly added to my custom 709th “Red Fury” flight jacket!
Target exclusive First Order Elite Snowtrooper Black Series Figure!
This Black Series First Order Elite Snowtrooper figure was released on Triple Force Friday, October 4, 2019.
Inspired by Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, this First Order Elite Snowtrooper action figure features realistic detail and makes a great gift for Star Wars fans, and collectors can display it in their Star Wars collection.
Hasbro sold this figure internationally single boxed slight re-paint of the basic Black Series First Order Snowtrooper, this time the figure comes with a soft-goods robe.
Here’s what I like about this figure.
- This Snowtrooper’s chest box and backpack have differently colored buttons when compared to the first released version
- The trooper came with a blaster, a backpack and a soft-goods robe
- The soft-goods robe feels thick and premium and it’s tied around the trooper via a string
- The figure’s backpack plugs firmly in the back
- The First Order Snowtrooper is painted nicely and it’s sculpted beautifully with well-hidden joints
This is, like many of the newer designs, are influenced by Star Wars original trilogy artist Ralph Mc Quarrie, and Hasbro did a fantastic job translating the look and the aesthetics of his trooper into this action figure.
The figure alone retails at $19.99 plus, this is an exclusive repaint and the soft good cape really up the ante for me of this collectible figure!
Throw in the one-of-a-kind dated Force Friday enamel pin, exclusive beenie & the Marvel Comic? This is a terrific value at $40 MSRP!
